Faith Formation.  This includes classes for kindergarten through eighth grade, the High School Confirmation Program and post Confirmation program.  Children must be registered for classes.

Attendance - Please email the director at faithformation@stmarysskaneateles.com if your child will miss a class. If we do not hear from you ahead of time we will send a quick email letting you know we did not have your child during class that week.. If you would like to switch to the other class for a week, please email the director the preceding week to check for availability. You will receive an email letting you know if this is alright for that date. Please do not send your child to the other time if you have not checked ahead of time. For grades 1 to 6 you are always welcome to take your child's book and review any missed sessions with them. For grades 7 and 8 making up sessions is required. Sacramental preparation. Children must have completed at least one year of Faith formation (grade 1 or above) and be enrolled in their 2nd year of faith formation (grade 2 or above) to enroll in preparation for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist. Children must have completed the 7th and 8th grade program to enroll in the Confirmation program in 9th grade.

Catechists, Substitute Catechists and Hall Monitors.  In order to provide faith formation for the children of our parish, we need many volunteers each year who are willing to serve as catechists.  The Catechetical Leader trains and provides support to the catechists.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW).  This is held during the 10:15 AM Sunday Mass from September to May and is open to children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Children younger than kindergarten are more than welcome to attend with a parent/guardian accompanying them.  Older youth from our Faith Formation Program and adult volunteers staff this.

Middle School Youth Group.  The St. Mary’s of the Lake Middle School youth group welcomes all children of St. Mary’s in grades 6 to 8.  Our hope is to support the children on their faith journey in fun and different ways.  Programming is monthly from August to June.  Activities include pie making, game night, ice cream socials, sledding, service/community projects, parish pancake breakfast and various other activities.  Parent helpers are appreciated.

Safe Environment Program.  In compliance with the USCCB, “Protecting God’s Children”, Adult Awareness Sessions are available and free to all adult parishioners.  This training is mandated for all Clergy, Religious, all employees and any volunteer whose ministry brings them into contact with children.  Contact the Parish Office for more information.  Note:  Parents are reminded that an adult must always accompany children if they have to leave the worship area during Mass.  Please be aware that the Church is a public building and this policy is enforced for the safety of your children.
